Anniversary

One of the episodes that's a little too sad especially Lucy. I do like Ricky's line 'hopefully this'll does it' and Lucy's reaction is funny. I do get choked up watching Lucy and Ricky slow dance because I see Lucille and Desi and knowing their marriage wasn't great. But you can see there is love between them.

Hollywood Anniversary

This was one the most heart warming and delightful episodes of Lucy post Little Ricky's birth. it was great watching this episode and the way Ricky worked to cover his tracks and arrange the big party for Lucy and his anniversary. I still remember watching them as they came to reconcile their as Ricky apologized and Lucy's mom encouraged her to go to him. The dance sequence of the Anniversary Waltz was so great because of the elegant way those two danced, it was like the nation was privy to a private moment between America's favorite couple. the beauty and grace Lucy brought to that dance floor that evening with her husband truly showed you what made Lucy as well as Ricky the messmate performers they were..

"None of Those Peoples Will Be There?"

When Lucy drops the bombshell that the Ricardos will soon be celebrating their anniversary, Ricky scrambles to learn the actual date but feigns knowing it, adding he is planning an elaborate party at a Hollywood nightclub. Ricky's publicist gets in on the act and has a newspaper item printed about the party which supposedly is to be attended by many major Hollywood stars. Lucy ultimately learns the truth that Ricky lied about knowing the actual date and refuses to attend the "party" which actually is just going to be a night out with the Mertzes.

This episode is notable for Ricky stating over the phone that his full name is Ricardo Alberto Fernando Ricardo y Acha (making Ricardo BOTH his first and last name!) although it is generally accepted that his full name was Enrique Alberto Ricardo de y Acha III (as stated by Lucy in a later episode). Another revealing bit shows Lucy's mother (Kathryn Card) actually does thinks Ricky's first name is "Mickey" via her private conversation with Lucy whereas many ILL fans believe Mrs. MacGillacudy was deliberately mangling his name over the years.

Warning: Spoilers
Ricky doesn't forget these things. He even had his emergency present in case he does! It's not that it's not funny and tender but it's a little sad for me . I don't watch I love Lucy for sad . I also think Lucy overreacted of course it's not to say she's unique in that way but I think it gets stretched out more than it should have. No doubt they have to fill out the episode but she really doubles down I understand they wanted to cover typical events . I wish they would have done something different like Ricky's birthday. He's the only main character that didn't acknowledge his birthday .

Funny how Bobby ends up escorting Lucy and her mother!
