To bring money into the home Lucy suggest to Ricky they raise chickens. Everything is costing too much lately for Ricky. Ricky blames a lot of it on Betty Ramsey ( Lucy probably wouldn't have bought as much furniture without Betty around) now she has set up for Lucy and Ricky's house to be photographed for a layout in a house and garden magazine. Ricky figured they'll have to buy fifty copies!
Fred tells them they will need help with the chickens and ends up applying for the job himself. It moves Ethel and Fred to the country.
Lucy and Ethel buy five hundred baby chicks that they can't keep in the hen house without brooders to keep them warm. They have to keep them in the den instead. It works reasonably well until little Ricky finds them and forgets to close the den door. Chickens are all over the downstairs! The heat must be turned up throughout the house while they all try to get them gathered up . Some are hiding behind the dryer and Lucy gets them out by pretending to be their mother! Just then the magazine people show up! Ricky tells Lucy maybe they will make the next issue of Chicken Breeders Gazette!
We knew the Mertz's would end up moving to the country too . I really like the way it happened.
