I'll be ready in a minute, dear.

This is probably one of those underrated episodes no one mentions as their favorite. For me, it is for season 1 it doesn't tackle too much on sexism it's totally innocent. It's good old fashioned fun comedy. The biscuits toss is too good Ethel pitching and Lucy catches with a baseball glove . . . How do you not laugh?

The first meeting of Lucy and Gale Gordon on TV.

Warning: Spoilers
Women are always late, Hal Holbrook told Dixie Carter on "Designing Women", and this episode is evidence of that as Lucy nearly prevents them from getting to a movie on time. They are preparing for dinner the following night with Ricky's new boss, Gale Gordon and his wife, Edith Meiser, and the following night, it ends up being the same scenario. It turns out that Meiser has the same issue, and Gordon is twice as tough on his wife as Ricky and Fred are. The sight of Ethel ready to go in her coat is hysterical as she reveals what she has on underneath to everybody. Dinner with the boss and his wife results in an accurate description of what they would have eaten had they been on time. A great shot of Lucy with a fake apple in her mouth is another hysterical moment in the shows many hysterical site gag visuals. As Ricky prepares a schedule for Lucy to follow for their social life, you know what's going to lead to even more. Maybe not a perfect episode, but filled with very funny moments.

This episode sees Ricky's boss and the boss' wife join Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel for the dinner from Hell! Tick, tock, tick, tock, the biscuits are hard as a rock!

When they start throwing the food, omg!! Instant tears of laughter! I only wished his boss and the wife were on more than just a couple of episodes. Her facial expressions were priceless! Then again, maybe that's why Lucille Ball didn't want her around 🤔
