Lucy as the chair
angelahptrio30 July 2020
Lucy pretended to be a chair to spy on the neighbors is the funniest thing I ever seen in the episode. That's so Raven Raven Baxter did the same to spy on Cory. I wonder if there was inspiration.

"They're going to blow up the capital!"
gregoryserrano6 September 2021
Omg! Lucy and Ethel gawking at the new neighbors, Lucy as a chair, Lucy convinced they're going to blow up the country, her gunshots, the police officer's comment that he "hopes she grows up to be a nice big sofa!" Every bit of it is eye watering laughter!

The only reason this doesn't get a 10/10 is because the repeated dialogue between the O'Brians was a bit stale.

With neighbor like Lucy and Ethel, murder is always an option. Or, is that with husbands like Fred and Ricky?

Warning: Spoilers
Had I not realized where I was in my viewing of the series, I could have sworn that I was already in the midst of the Lucy / Desi Comedy Hour where Tallulah Bankhead moved in next door and Ricky and Fred caught Lucy and Ethel being "nuzzy". The new neighbors are veteran character actors K. T. Stevens (who had just played Joan Crawford's niece in "Harriet Craig") and Hayden Rourke (later of "I Dream of Jeannie"), a married couple appearing in a TV murder mystery series. Rourke seems to be imitating Charles Boyer in "Gaslight" (as if being mimicked by Bela Lugosi) and Stevens emulating the not yet introduced cartoon character Natasha Fatale in their rehearsing, adding nice laughs to the mystery being set-up. Lucy's stuck in the new neighbor's apartment and must sneak her way out while disguised as a chair. The whole situation is hysterical, making you have to watch all of the situations going on around them. The fact that Rourke and Stevens keep a complete straight face makes the scene even funnier. I found that moment funnier than both "The Chocolate Factory" and "Vitameatavegamin", an impossible feat. Veteran Warner Brothers character actor Allen Jenkins is also funny as the desk sergeant.
