Jenkins, you IDIOT!
Swift-1230 March 2014
This episode highlights two great supporting players, ALLEN JENKINS & FRANK NELSON (plus a small part for a very strong actor, Lawrence Dobkin). Jenkins is a beat cop who mistakenly arrests Lucy & Ethel; Nelson the desk sergeant who insists he recognizes them as known criminals. When Nelson finally realizes his mistake, he shifts all the blame on Jenkins -- I just think it's fun that he also uses the actor's real name: "Jenkins! You IDIOT!" Meanwhile, Ricky and Fred are oblivious to everything around them, caught up with Friday Night Fights on TV. Watch it & you'll instantly recognize these very familiar performers. By this time viewers would already have known Allen Jenkins from the movies. Nelson had come up in radio, so they would know his voice, but in the advent of TV he'd become one of those famous faces whose names nobody knows (You know, the store clerk whose first line is always: "Yesssss?")

Fight night

Warning: Spoilers
Lucy and Ethel are stuck in the kitchen while Ricky and Fred are watching the weekly fights on television. Bored Lucy and Ethel come up with several ways to keep them from watching the fights . One leads to their arrests! Lucy gets one of her best verbal sparring partners in Frank Nelson playing a police Sargent . Their exchange alone makes this episode stand out . The script is clever for such a standard plot . Very underrated.

One of my favorite episodes!

Warning: Spoilers
Fred and Ricky spend the evening oblivious to the fact that their wives are doing everything to can think of to keep their husbands from watching the boxing match on television.

Lucy and Ethel even get arrested at one point!

They are also mistaken for a couple of female burglars !

I can understand the frustration especially given that Ricky works at the club most nights.

There is a very funny exchange at the police station and one of the police officers goes to the apartment so they can bail out Lucy and Ethel. Everything is sorted out though and by the end Ricky and Fred are none the wiser - thank goodness!

It's All About the Fights!

I actually don't care for the episode I don't know why. It reminds me of the cliques you see in every husband and wife sitcoms. Wife is upset because the husband is glued to the TV. It gets old. I do enjoy Lucy and Ethel's adventure. I can relate to them because I am the same when it comes to sporting events. I could careless about boxing. It is funny at the end because the husbands had no clue what the girls went through. It's just not my cup of tea.
