There is a lost scene in which Ernie describes the situation with the Sheriff's daughter. He got a little too tipsy at an auction event and bid on a dinner with Teensy by mistake and the Sheriff jumped the gun and assumed it was a proposal. The scene now appears in the DVD extras.
Aaron Spelling hit it off with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz when they cast him as the gas station attendant for this episode, and they cast him again in a supporting role the following September on the pilot episode of their new Desilu-produced TV series Willy (1954): First Case (1954).
Thirty years later, Aaron Spelling produced Lucille Ball's final television series, Life with Lucy (1986).
Will Wright (Sheriff) previously appeared in the 1952 I LOVE LUCY episode The Handcuffs (1952), as Mr Walters, the locksmith.
When the scene of the Pontiac driving fast through Bent Fork was filmed, the director was not satisfied with the speed the crew member was driving. He wanted the car to go faster. So, he took upon the task himself and was pulled over for speeding, just like in the episode! The director got the charges dropped when he found out the police officer was a huge Lucy fan, and he promised to send the police officer an autographed picture.
