Lucy. the clown, shows what a good sport she is. Lucy, the character. not so much.

Warning: Spoilers
Lucy's Bonnie is lying over the ocean in this pratfall filled episode where she gets soaked every time she says (or sings) anything to do with water. She's trying to settle the household accounts and ends up on a game show where ordinary housewives can win $1000 for doing the oddest things. Rather than go over Niagara Falls in a barrel, she must introduce a complete stranger to Ricky as her first husband, and mistakes a street bum as the man the game show is sending over. Of course, this results in a verbal showdown between Ricky, Lucy and the well-dressed, well spoken but obviously dirty hobo. Of course, Ethel recognizes him which spoils the game.

If only the "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean" skit had gone on a little longer, this could have been a classic gag rather than just the few minutes that takes to unfold. John Emery, best known for being Tallulah Bankhead's husband, is very funny as Harold the bum, obviously emulating John Barrymore. This is a witty episode where Lucy's comic talents run over time weather being soaking wet or speed talking as she tries to get herself out of a ton of trouble.

The Quiz Show
bobcobb3012 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Absurd TV at its finest. This is the kind of episode many shows tried to emulate, but few ever could. Was it the funniest episode of all time? Of course not, but there were surely a lot of laughs in it.

It does not seem likely that Lucy would be managing the money, particularly paying the rent, but the quiz show, and mocking pushing someone off Niagara Falls just makes it hard to not laugh at.

Polyamory in I Love Lucy?!
gregoryserrano12 July 2020
This episode must have been controversial in such conservative times, regardless of the falseness and obvious humor! Lucy must introduce a stranger to Ricky as her lost husband to win money from a game show. Of course, the actual actor comes around AFTER a con artist shows up first and Lucy ends up with TWO former lovers! Her words and facial expressions are the absolute best here and it is an excellently written body of work in a series that sometimes goes overboard in presenting humor to its audience.

Females are Fabulous
angelahptrio24 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
You know a show like Females are Fabulous would definitely not work today, they'd be sued. Anyway, it is pretty funny. The whole scene with the bum and Lucy and Ricky is funny because she thinks he's the fake first husband. And the real guy shows up and she says I like you to meet my second first husband. Put the mindset away from seeing women treated as Guinea pigs on the game show, you'll enjoy the episode.
