Another underrated episode of the season. I like seeing the Ricardos live with the Mertzes then get on each other's nerves. I love watching Lucy fake die because it's so comical she overdoes it. And I do mimic her death scenes. I'm quite sure Fran on The Nanny does a death scene mimicking Lucy.

Warning: Spoilers
I guess it's inevitable when a show like this has so many classic episodes more fall under the radar . The Sublease is one of them .

A single plot episode has the Ricardo's wanting to sublease the apartment while they spend the summer in Maine at a resort Ricky has been booked at . Problem? The Mertz's object when the Ricardo's plan to profit off it . But it's actually stipulated in their lease that the landlords have to approve. This leads to a falling out between them until the realtor ( Mrs Hammond ) brokers peace and all can profit from the deal.

Lucy and Ethel meet the new tenant who's been through a lot at a murder trial and needs a quiet place to rest. All is fine until the booking falls through and they aren't leaving. The tenant Mr. Beecher won't give up the apartment and the Ricardo's move in with the Mertz's until they can find an apartment for the two months. A week later they are still there. Lucy can't find a decent place that takes children ( pets but not children) . They are all getting on each other's nerves. Little Ricky is teething and fussy. Fred to Lucy " Lucy will you keep that baby quiet his crying gets on my nerves!" Lucy " well why didn't you say so Fred ? Little Ricky's only crying because he thought you liked it!" Lol !

Finally Lucy and Ethel play act like Lucy wants Fred in front of Mr. Beecher and Ethel has a gun! Lucy goes over the top and it's all quite hilarious.

They get the apartment back but don't actually need it. Fred found them one in the neighborhood and paid down the full rent meanwhile Ricky gets another booking and they won't even be there!

Two nitpicks. Lucy is upset Mr. Beecher just won't leave but after all he had a lease. Second Lucy can't find an apartment for over a week but Fred finds one in a couple of hours?! Is it not so nice or does he just have connections with other landlords? Still a very funny episode.

Not one of my favorites but it has its moments.

Warning: Spoilers
I think the biggest thing that annoys me about this episode is Fred's character is just way too stingy and also hypocritical.

For the diehard fans out there, in season 2 episode 2 of "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" Fred is met with a similar situation as the Ricardo's where he had the chance to rent out the guesthouse he and Ethel were living in but wanted to make a profit (charge more than what he had been paying - whilst he stays in the Ricardo's home rent-free) and yet he snivels at the Ricardo's trying to make a profit off a sublease in this episode.

It's one of those things that gets under my skin because he sure doesn't mind making extra money when HE can but heaven forbid someone else does.

Outside of the episode has its moments of humor, additional obstacles, and challenges - once again culminating in the wacky ideas conjured up by Lucy.
