Before the bubblegum
bkoganbing4 September 2013
A year before David Cassidy became the bubblegum teen idol courtesy of The Partridge Family he was guest star on this Ironside episode. He plays a troubled youth who has been sucked into a robbery scheme with a pair of brother punks who work for a fence played by Alan Openheimer who keeps his hands clean at all times.

The clue that makes Cassidy a person of interest is a sheet from a torn basketball play guide that was left at the scene of a robbery. Cassidy plays basketball among a group of youths at a youth center where he's mentored by Don Mitchell.

It's Mitchell who tries to get Cassidy to come clean. He's basically a decent kid who has a bad home life, a young woman he's fond of played by Pamela McMyler in a mental institution. Raymond Burr and the rest of the squad aren't far behind Mitchell though.

Not one of the better episodes as Cassidy is not really given good motivation for what he does. And Alan Openheimer's character as a fence with a heart of gold was a bit much to swallow.
