The final episode of the first series has Sergeant Major Williams wantong his entertainment troops to act like real soldiers.
His request to the Colonel for the men to do guard duty is turned down, so is his request that they wear identical uniforms. The Colonel regards the entertainment troops as a holding unit.
Williams refuses to be defeated. He has a trick up his sleeve. By pretending to be a friendly uncle, he gets the men to do a military number. In identical uniforms, where they march and present arms in unison.
As luck would have it a General turns up for an inspection. He is not impressed with Colonel Reynolds who forgot which day the General was meant to turn up. So the General is surprised to see what the troop can do if the tune is right.
An agreeable end to the first series. Although not up to Dad's Army standards, it was od consistent quality with some laughs.
