"Holy Gad-zoli" a Great Season 3 Ep
kgraovac10 November 2023
Jan fixes Dot up with a cartoonist friend of Richie's who uses their new relationship as fodder for his comic strip; Amy embarks on an assertiveness campaign.

This is a very cute episode. Jeff Altman is boyishly charming as the creator of "Billy Bonkers" who bases his new "Betty Spaghetti" character on Dot. She begins to resent him using their personal relationship as the basis for the strip. It's through the comic strip that Dot learns Altman's character is planning to propose. She eventually tells him she can't marry a man who lives his life through a fictional character.

Some funny moments are when Nancy gifts Howard with a toiletries kit equipped with a cologne called "Pillage" and when Amy tells Cassie she wears too much makeup.

The ending, where we are told Billy Bonkers pushed Betty Spaghetti out of an airplane has one of Nancy's best reactions ever - a snide giggle that is totally meme-worthy.

Jeff Altman would appear in the EMPTY NEST spinoff NURSES in 1991-92 and was also "Jeff" in the infamous 1979 variety show PINK LADY & JEFF, which has been a punchline for decades.

It's ironic that in these syndicated episodes that run 3 minutes shorter than typical network fare, Sonny is afforded much longer musical interludes than he was on ABC.

There are two short musical moments cut where Sonny plays the BATMAN theme and sings "Once In Love with Amy".
