Cast Do Their Best in This Misfire
kgraovac6 November 2023
A small terrorist group holds the staff and customers hostage while a diplomat from their Republic is dining in the restaurant.

The series does another "crisis" show like they did in Season 1's "Up on The Roof" where the building was on fire. That one was good but the situation in this one doesn't really lend itself well to the sitcom format. The whole thing has a very amateurish, high-school play vibe about it.

The funniest part is when Nancy persuades them to let the customers go, Sonny tries to sneak out dressed like an Arab (wearing a tablecloth). There is a sappy subplot where Jan coaches her daughter over the phone to help the cat give birth to kittens.

At least there is some familial closeness displayed between the characters when they all think they're going to die. Cassie reveals she regrets never having a child. The big takedown scene is unbelievable and awkwardly staged, and everything wraps up too perfectly.

The last scene is cute where Nancy and Howard drink a toast to his goldfish Ike and Mamie, and when Nancy suggests going back to his place, Howard deadpans, "There's not enough wine in France".

An overdramatic, strange episode that doesn't really play well due to the subject matter.
