On the chat show, Jonathan begins to tell a story about a magician called Chung Ling Soo (real name, William Robinson). This was a real Victorian era magician who, though he was really a fit, Caucasian Englishman, famously posed as an elderly Chinese man for his entire professional life. Any time he appeared in public, whether or not he was performing, he wore makeup and spoke Chinese. He died on stage when a "bullet catch" illusion went wrong. His last words, "I've been shot," were the first English words he had spoken in public for over a decade.
