Dorie Barton: Princess Audrey

Quotes

  • [as Bruce and Diana are dancing, terrorists drop in and seize Princess Audrey]

Bruce Wayne , Princess Diana : Excuse me.

[they break off in different directions; Bruce starts to loosen his tie... then sees Diana fly up and grab Audrey away]

Princess Diana : Always this popular?

Princess Audrey : Yes, although my admirers are usually unarmed.

[as she drops Audrey and flies at the terrorists, Bruce smiles and puts his tie back in place]

  • [in a club, Audrey and Diana are besieged by paparazzi]

Princess Audrey : Would you be a dear and pummel them mercilessly?

[Diana lifts her into the air]

    Princess Diana : I don't think that'll be necessary.

[she flies out the door, Audrey whooping with glee]

  • Princess Audrey : We need to get you some new clothes. I know a boutique that'll open for me if I ask them nicely.

Princess Diana : I thought you were going to tell me more about the incident.

Princess Audrey : No, that's just what I let my father think so I could go clubbing tonight.

    Princess Diana : Clubbing?

Princess Audrey : Look, I'm getting married soon. This is my last night in Paris as a free woman.

Princess Diana : I'm not really following.

Princess Audrey : I'm a world-class party girl. I intend to go out with a bang. Several, if it can be arranged.

    [leaving]

    Princess Audrey : You coming?

  • Princess Audrey : That was fabulous! I've never seen anyone break a helicopter before!

Princess Diana : [sheepishly]  It was my first time.

Princess Audrey : Well, I can't thank you enough. I'm supposed to have guards for this sort of thing, you know.

Princess Diana : I wouldn't blame them. Someone went to a lot of trouble to get to you. Any ideas?

Princess Audrey : [shrugging]  I'm the princess of Kasnia. Lots of people in the world don't like Kasnia. Lots of people in Kasnia don't like Kasnia.

Princess Diana : Tell me what you know.

Princess Audrey : Not tonight, darling. Still early. Places to go, parties to crash. On the other hand, I've never hung out with a superhero before.

  • Doctor : I'm sorry, milady. We've done all we can.

    Vandal Savage : Audrey...

Princess Audrey : No. If my father cannot rule, my duty is clear. For the good of Kasnia, I must assume the throne until my father is able again.

Vandal Savage : Of course, my counsel is at your service, as it was for the king.

Princess Audrey : I don't require your counsel, Vandal.

Vandal Savage : I beg your pardon?

Princess Audrey : The people need reassurance in the royal family's continuity. Our wedding will take place immediately. Is that acceptable to you?

Vandal Savage : Nothing would make me happier.

  • Princess Audrey : Diana, I'd like to introduce you to my fiance.

Princess Diana : [recognizing him as he turns around]  Vandal Savage!

  • King Gustav : I just heard the news. Did they harm you?

Princess Audrey : I'm fine, Daddy.

King Gustav : They won't get away with this. I'll have the entire opposition party arrested.

Princess Audrey : Daddy, no! That's gauche! We have to prove we're better than that.

King Gustav : I will not allow these dissidents to ruin the International Space Station. You are to return home immediately!

Princess Audrey : Let me stay. I couldn't be any safer. Wonder Woman will be with me.

[she puts her hands together pleadingly at Diana, who smiles]

King Gustav : All right. But I'm doubling your guard. Take care, precious.

  • Princess Audrey : A lot of people are upset about all the money we're putting into the International Space Station.

Princess Diana : That project's making your father a very popular world leader.

Princess Audrey : Someone forgot to tell that to the peasants back home. Anyway, it's my fiance who's really running the thing.

Princess Diana : You haven't said much about him.

Princess Audrey : What's to say? Arranged marriage to a dreary, much older man.

    Princess Diana : I'm sorry.

Princess Audrey : Moi aussi. But my new life as royal hausfrau doesn't begin until after the engagement party tomorrow. Tonight, we dance.

Princess Diana : [indicating her stoic bodyguards, crammed together on one side of the car]  I doubt they'll approve.

Princess Audrey : As if they have any say. Excuse me, boys. Girl talk.

[activating a divider from both the floor and ceiling]

Princess Audrey : I've been ditching royal guards since I was knee-high to Daddy's throne. Try and keep up.

  • Princess Diana : [atop the Eiffel Tower]  This is perfect. I can't remember when I've had this much fun.

Princess Audrey : You couldn't have had this much fun, darling. You've never partied with me before. This wasn't how I intended to spend my last night as a free woman.

    Princess Diana : Disappointed?

Princess Audrey : No. I rather enjoyed corrupting you.

Princess Diana : I'd appreciate it if we kept some of the more embarrassing stories to ourselves.

Princess Audrey : Don't worry. I won't tell anyone that their great hero has feet of clay.

Princess Diana : You have no idea.

Princess Audrey : [sitting on a ledge]  I'm sometimes afraid I'll never have fun again.

Princess Diana : You don't have to marry him.

Princess Audrey : Yes, I do. But I've still got one more time for one more fling!

Princess Diana : [she falls off]  Audrey!

[laughing as she free-falls, Diana flies down to save her]

Princess Diana : Are you insane? What were you thinking?

Princess Audrey : I was thinking we should call it a night. I have an engagement party tomorrow.

  • Armed Man : Down with the monarchy! Freedom for Kasnia!

Princess Audrey : Stay back! You can't approach without my permission!

Armed Man : [aiming his weapon at her]  Permission, yes?

  • Princess Audrey : I'm going to be late for my own engagement party!

Princess Diana : Audrey, I'm worried about you. We need to talk.

Princess Audrey : Relax, Diana. I'm going to marry the old stiff and churn out a veritable litter of royal heirs.

Princess Diana : There's been a series of thefts. We've connected one of the burglars with your government.

Princess Audrey : You couldn't possibly believe my father would order such a thing.

Princess Diana : I don't know your father.

Princess Audrey : Well, I do, and he wouldn't.

Princess Diana : I just needed to hear it from you. I'm sorry.

Princess Audrey : Nothing to be sorry about. We all have our obligations. Come meet my ball-and-chain-to-be.

  • Princess Audrey : I hate to admit it, but you're right.

Princess Diana : You're going to help me find out why those men tried to kidnap you?

Princess Audrey : I meant about the dress. You *can* get away with scarlet.

Princess Diana : I'm serious. You're still in danger. Let me help.

Princess Audrey : You are helping. I'm having a fabulous time.

  • Princess Diana : Vandal Savage is a Nazi war criminal. He was...

    Vandal Savage : My grandfather.

    Princess Diana : What?

Vandal Savage : Vandal Savage III.

[offering a handshake, which she doesn't take]

Vandal Savage : A pleasure to meet you.

Princess Audrey : Diana, don't be rude.

Vandal Savage : It's understandable. My grandfather was a very evil man.

Princess Diana : He wasn't a man. He was a monster.

Vandal Savage : I've dedicated my life to doing good works. It's my way of trying to restore my family's lost honor.

Princess Diana : The resemblance is uncanny.

Vandal Savage : Our genes are rather... insistent. Excuse me.

    [kissing Audrey's hand, he leaves]

Princess Diana : I'm sorry, Audrey. I didn't mean to insult him.

    Princess Audrey : Didn't you?
