John Thaw and Shiela Hancock together, what a treat!
TheLittleSongbird16 April 2010
When I heard that husband and wife John Thaw and Shiela Hancock were going to star together in this episode, he as the lawyer she as the wife of the victim, I was so excited. I watched Blood Money and I wasn't disappointed. I don't know about you but I think Thaw and Hancock work really well together, Thaw is excellent as Kavanagh and Hancock established herself as one of the better supporting actresses in the history of the show's run. There is also the compelling story concerning negligence, and some intelligent scripting. The production values are first rate as pretty much always, and the music is superb. The direction is also good, but the main attraction is the chemistry between John Thaw and Shiela Hancock, they make the episode worth watching on their own. 10/10 Bethany Cox

Kavanagh takes on a medical negligence case. Sarah Meadows husband was involved in a car accident but had a heart attack during surgery which initially seemed to be going well.

Sarah is convinced something went wrong, her husband was a fit man.

The hospital trust will be represented by Jeremy Aldermarten in court. If the trust loses, it would be financially devastating for them.

Kavanagh has enough fire in his belly to get over some of the kinks in the case. Sarah's marriage was unhappy and her husband stormed out of the house on the day he had the accident.

Sheila Hancock plays Sarah Meadows and it is an opportunity for her to appear with her husband John Thaw.

As a drama it is decent enough. It makes some political points about the underfunded NHS with doctors working round the clock, trying to make the most of meagre resources.

Legally it is pants. More appropriate for television than a court of law.
