I think this is the best episode

I think this is the best episode. It made me laugh more than any other episode. Mrs. Fortescue reminds me a bit of my grandmother on my fathers side and it makes it even better. I really enjoyed this episode.

It was good to see Mrs. Fortescue as a real person.

It was so good to see Mrs. Fortescue as a real person who can really enjoy life. I was wondering, is that pub a regular place Onslow visits/ It must be nearby his and Daisy and Roses home since he rode his bike there. Also Mrs. "Buckets" friends were walking by. When they were shooting the episode did they arrange for that car to pull out of the parking lot at the same time Richard was driving in so they would not be blocked by another car? Did Mrs. Fortescue get a good score when playing darts? Where was Onslow when he saw Mrs. Bucket outside the pub talking to a "blot"? What was the name of that fish and chips business across the street from the pub? What a great show that was!!!!

One of my favourite episodes of season 2

Warning: Spoilers
I recall very well even as it just after the episode debuting Elizabeth's brother Emmet.

First scene with Daisy and Onslow who gives hilarious quote "If you want a moustache, why don't you grow a moustache?" Haha

Bit like deaf elderly Mrs Richards from Fawlty Towers episode, many would consider Mrs Fortescue as an old bat who attacks people with her walking stick even Richard doesn't like her as she injured him before.

Hyacinth plans to impress the wealthy woman fail when her sisters Daisy and Rose get involved and then Onslow having a game of darts in the pub - used to like pub scene have drink.

Jean Anderson gives a brilliant performance as Mrs Fortescue.

Last few hilarious scenes when Hyacinth failed to be recognised, seen stuck on back of a pick-up truck, by Mrs Barker-Finch, and then Hyacinth recognising her brother-in-law Bruce as Maid Marian.

Mrs . Fortescue

I love this episode. Mrs Fortescue may be one of the " appropriate " neighbors Hyacinth aspire to be befriend but it's Daisy, Rose and Onslow are the ones Mrs. Fortescue enjoys being around.

I always had in the back of my mind that she kept meeting them at the pub and she left them her house and money in her Will . That would give Hyacinth a turn!

An absolute classic.

Hyacinth jumps at the chance to accompany the socially upward Mrs Fortescue to town, Richard is a little less than happy, as the last time the pair met, at church, she clobbered him with her stick.

The first episode, since the first, that I would deem a classic, this is an absolutely hilarious, first class episode, it has many strong points, I'll name a few. We have the physical humour of Routledge, her scenes on the back of the van are side splitting, we finally see Hyacinth lose part of her facade, and socialise with the family, and we also get the wonderful Mrs Fortescue.

Jean Anderson gives an incredibly memorable perofrmance here as Mrs Fortescue, she's a cantankerous old bat, but underneath it all, she's a bit of fun.

Its funny from start to finish, quality throughout, 10/10.

Hyacinth does it again! Warning: Spoilers
In the words of the great Oliver Hardy:

"No one is dummer than a dumb man who thinks he's smart."

This is the one rule that is essential to crafting a great comedy character, while at the same time never forgetting their humanity.

Roy Clarke clearly had this in mind when writing this gem. Hyacinth trying so hard to impress those in "High Social Circles" and always coming up short. This is no exception. The Mrs Fortescue she's insists on driving is not what she expects. She thoroughly enjoys frequenting "Public Houses" and enjoys the company of Onslow and co.

Good Taste: 1 Hyacinth: 0

10/10.
