- While Julian's interest in Caitlin intensifies, a psychotic vampire leaves a grisly trail throughout the city. Daedalus, unknowingly leads Frank and Julian to a vicious showdown with a newly embraced killer named "Starkweather".
- There is a new vampire in town, having been embraced one week ago by an unidentified Gangrel. Cash is assigned the job of teaching Starkweather [ Nicky Katt] the ropes, but Starkweather has a mind of his own. When the two of them start a brawl in The Haven, they both wind up in the psychoward where Starkweather feeds for the first time on an orderly. Once Starkweather sees how the drinking of blood makes him feel, he refuses to stop, even after Cash explains the necessity of taking only what he needs, lest humans start asking questions.
Daedalus has fallen in love with Elaine Robb [Kimberly Kates], a singer at The Haven. He senses a deep loneliness in her that he longs to fill, so he sends her a note saying, "I'm sorry for your pain. I would do anything to ease it," and signs it "A friend." Unfortunately, with his bald head, nosferatu ears, and reptilian eyes, Daedalus knows he can never let her see him, so he resorts to alchemy in hopes of altering his appearance.
Starkweather is proving to be a major threat to the Masquerade. He refuses to abide by Julian's restrictions and kills his victims so violently that he has become known to the press as "The Nightstalker." Julian declares a blood hunt on him.
Meanwhile, Daedelus has been able to alter his appearance sufficiently that he has now begun sleeping with Elaine. One night, however, the spell wears off, and Daedelus wakes to find he has reverted to his Nosferatu appearance. He tries to get away, but Elaine wakes up, sees him and screams, thinking he must be the Nightstalker. Caitlin interviews Elaine regarding her experience with the Nightstalker. Starkweather is angered because he knows that it wasn't he who scared her.
Starkweather dons a police uniform, steals a squad car, and poses as Elaine's bodyguard. When Daedalus sees Elaine with Starkweather and realizes that he is the real Nightstalker, he tells Julian. Julian calls Frank Kohanek and tells him to hurry over to The Haven. Kohanek shows up first, and Starkweather strings him up in an attempt to hang him. Julian shows up just in time to cut Kohanek down and behead Starkweather.
"Thanks buddy," Kohanek says to Julian. [Synopsis by bj_kuehl]
