Luanne sees Buckley's angel on Buckley's old trampoline and he helps her find a better life path than continuing to struggle with beauty school. Words can't capture how touching this episode is.
The first thing I want to mention is the soundtrack. They used a relatively obscure song from the 1980s, Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town," and use it perfectly to accompany Luanne and Buckley's reunion. Later, when Luanne is using the trampoline as a makeshift desk to study for her beauty exam, "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" plays on her boom-box and continues to throughout the scene. Just before Buckley's Angel departs at the end, "Life in a Northern Town" fades in at "Bye-bye..." after Luanne tells him goodbye.
The dialog in this episode is thought-provoking and touching. Even something as simple as Luanne crying and pleading, "Where IS he?!" is deep - she's not only wondering where Buckley's angel is, but also about the afterlife. Where is he when he isn't with her? In Heaven? Does Heaven exist? Shortly after this, Peggy gives Luanne a very inspirational speech, which shapes her decision later to attend community college.
At the very end, Buckley walks toward the horizon, pulling out of his pocket and putting on the halo he undoubtedly earned for helping Luanne grieve and move on. He certainly earned it - Luanne began this episode weeping at the very thought of Buckley and struggling with school, and finished it with closure and hope for a better future.
