Poignant, touching, thought-provoking

Warning: Spoilers
Luanne sees Buckley's angel on Buckley's old trampoline and he helps her find a better life path than continuing to struggle with beauty school. Words can't capture how touching this episode is.

The first thing I want to mention is the soundtrack. They used a relatively obscure song from the 1980s, Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town," and use it perfectly to accompany Luanne and Buckley's reunion. Later, when Luanne is using the trampoline as a makeshift desk to study for her beauty exam, "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" plays on her boom-box and continues to throughout the scene. Just before Buckley's Angel departs at the end, "Life in a Northern Town" fades in at "Bye-bye..." after Luanne tells him goodbye.

The dialog in this episode is thought-provoking and touching. Even something as simple as Luanne crying and pleading, "Where IS he?!" is deep - she's not only wondering where Buckley's angel is, but also about the afterlife. Where is he when he isn't with her? In Heaven? Does Heaven exist? Shortly after this, Peggy gives Luanne a very inspirational speech, which shapes her decision later to attend community college.

At the very end, Buckley walks toward the horizon, pulling out of his pocket and putting on the halo he undoubtedly earned for helping Luanne grieve and move on. He certainly earned it - Luanne began this episode weeping at the very thought of Buckley and struggling with school, and finished it with closure and hope for a better future.

Touching, Underrated, and Unforgettable

Warning: Spoilers
This is easily a 10-star episode and I'd argue the best episode in the entire series. While still having the signature KOTH humor to it, this episode is the most heartbreaking and uplifting the series has ever made. From Luanna telling the angel, "No, that part's over," to her response of "chicken thigh," you'll probably get a little teary-eyed. If you're religious in any way, this episode is also for you. After seeing how terrible Luanne was at beauty school for a couple of seasons, it was fantastic the way that God leads her into doing something much more positive with her life instead of beauty school. And working through Buckley's angel was a perfect way to do it. Of course Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill are all hilarious in this episode. This one isn't all deep and heartstring tugging. There is plenty of humor, but the heart and soul of this episode puts it at the highest level for me. Someone is cutting onions throughout. 10000/10 all day every day.

Beautiful.

King Of The Hill is a show that has many memorable moments and beautiful characters, and the reason why this show is still being talked about today is the love, and development of those characters. I think an animated show will sometime only allow that love and care to shine on the major characters, using side characters as a comic relief or minor plot device. That's not the case with this show.

There are few episodes of television that stick out like this one. Buckley was never a character that outright had development besides as a plot device for Luanne. While his character passing was a shock, we then get this gem of an episode and the beautiful writing of young love lost, and what that can do to someone. Wow, what an episode. It might be my favorite of the series. "Life In A Northern Town" hits, it hits hard. Easily a top ten episode of any television series for me. Wherever Johnny Hardwick may be right now, I hope there are trampolines. Beautiful writing, Johnny.

Thoughtful

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode. Buckley's Angel is a jerk just like he was in real life.

But Luanne loved him.

This episode shows you the love of Jesus and how he uses his soldiers to spread his love and message to the people of Earth.

But Buckley's Angel really helps Luanne with her life and changes for the better.

All the guys need the help of the angel and leaves messages for him on the trampoline.

The only one not believing it is Hank. Of course, as a stick in the mud, he doesn't believe in anything except propane, beef and his lawn.

Watch this episode and remember a loved one who has passed and you will smile.
