K.I.T.T. has had his share of dust-ups and even a few life-threatening beatdowns, but 'Soul Survivor' is the first (and only?) time he's been stolen by a hacker whiz-kid and his black widow of a girlfriend. That's partly why this is as memorable as it is; Devon and Rebecca have a good exasperated laugh at Michael losing his very expensive piece of hardware. The other reason is that hypnotic song that knocks Michael out; it's like some bargain-basement John Carpenter synth that really gets in your head.
But the situation's never really dire, and Michael end up getting his car back with . . . eh, not much trouble. It's kind of a flat ending.
6/10

The unthinkable happens and Michael is forced to do a hot pursuit at 50 miles an hour with a tv in the shotgun seat. I wonder if that guy ever got his tv...

When the chivalrous Michael comes to the rescue of Adrianne Margeaux, a beautiful damsel in distress, he falls foul to a plot to steal K. I. T. T. Adrianne's associate, whiz kid Randy Merritt overrides K. I. T. T.'s programming and steals the car, leaving the computer itself behind; the two villains then set off in the Trans Am to use its powerful laser to commit an art robbery. After Michael
and Devon recover what's left of K. I. T. T., April places the A. I. in a portable television / radio unit; reunited with his pal, Michael set off in a Studebaker to apprehend the villains and restore K. I. T. T. to his former glory...
KITT becoming a TV box was really funny, and Michael is placed in a vulnerable position, especially because the Studebaker has no turbo boosting abilities nor it goes in surveillance mode. Not my top of the list episode but it features Ann Turkel in a deliciously fiendish role who seduces a nerd to get him to hijack KITT's computer.

You would have thought after what happened to Devon in the previous episode. Michael would know better than to stop and help out a damsel with some minor car trouble, but Michael goes further and drops by her house where he is knocked out by some hypnotic electro pop.
This daft episode gets worse. A whiz kid computer hacker steals KITT and reprograms it even though he has ripped out its CPU. He then controls the car with an Atari game console joystick.
The hacker does it all for a femme fatale Adrianne who plans to use KITT to steal some valuable art.
Meanwhile the Knight Foundation has put KITT's CPU inside a portable television set and Michael is driving around in a Mercedes. How the mighty have fallen, the Merc does not even speak to him when running low on gas.
It is watchable but you certainly have to switch off your brain.
