Second of a four part storyline that ended the original series.
By the time this show aired, the series was dead in all but name. After two successful seasons running on Thursday night, Kung Fu was bumped for a new private-eye series, Harry O (ironically, both were produced by Jerry Thorpe and both are highly regarded by fans), and was moved to several time slots. When the show settled on Saturday evenings opposite All in the Family (ironically again, the time slot where it had first aired as a series of specials) it wound up dead last in the ratings with a then-unbelievable 13 percent share of viewers who were watching during that hour.
