Judging for how famous this episode is, maybe because its title, I thought that it would become one of my favorites. IMO, "WAR" is a good episode but very far from excellent as other episodes in this show are.

There is nevertheless a completely outstanding scene and dialogue between Nikita and Michael when they are both hold prisoners in metallic cells by their captors. Both bleeding and weak after long sessions of attempted interrogation.

And then... Michael says to Nikita: "you are the only one of us who still has a soul... I don't know what love is anymore...

but the only part of me that is not dead is you."

After that, we have a scene where Nikita breaks the silence and tells their kidnappers what they want to know in order to protect Michael from a possible incredible humiliation, as they were about to inject him with a narcotic to make him disgrace himself. IMO, Nikita breaking is a complete plot hole in the story line as it is not consistent with the things we know about her.

It is later revealed that Michael, Operations and Madeline had orchestrated the plan to ambush their enemies in the location revealed to them by Nikita. This reveals too, that what Michael said to Nikita, was said to provoke her to break before the enemies when they were about to torture him.

Nevertheless, Michael's final lines in this episode were:

"It wasn't all a lie. "

IMO this episode describes Michael's character.
