Job opening for a dealer
bkoganbing26 February 2018
Season two of Laramie opened with future co-stars of Emergency Robert Fuller and Julie London in the cast. Jess Harper's shooting in self defense of crooked dealer Walter Reed opens a job for a new dealer at one of the Laramie saloons. Poker Alice type character Julie London applies for the job. As you can imagine London is quite the attraction and I'm sure many are losing because they are paying attention to her rather than the cards.

London however is on the run. She's running from former husband Claude Akins who was a sheriff who was badly shot up in a shootout with gang of four Reeves brothers one of whom he killed. The other three busted out and are looking for both him and London who they think ratted them out.

In the end there's a nice shootout with the brothers Reeves with Akins aided by John Smith who has become her champion and by Robert Fuller who's given enough reason of his own to go after these three.

Julie London, one beautiful singer who could also act. I wish she would occasionally sing in her dramatic roles.

Not one of my favourites

A fairly mediocre story, I thought. I'm not a big fan of Julie London (though her version of Cry Me A River is very good) and I suspect this is one of the very many examples of someone being chosen for a part via who they know. She'd been a "friend" of Robert Fuller's since 1955 I believe and it'd be no coincidence she was given the part (which in actuality, any pretty and competent actress could've tackled). Similarly, Robert Fuller was given one of the main roles in Emergency, starring (you've guessed it) Julie London and her husband, Bobby Troup, the show being produced by London's ex husband , Jack Webb. These people seem to belong in such closed and tight-knit groups, it amazes me how any newcomer ever gets a look-in, such is the level of nepotism. Ordinary, and I wouldn't rewatch it.

I don't like the show as much without Andy & Jonesy.

As with most roles she played, julie london was a class act and she could sing ... later starred with robert fuller in "emergency" ... claude aikens on the other hand was a horse's ass ... he made me ill and apparently everyone else ... please kill him off soonest ... this was a very unsatisfying laramie episode
