Quite a watchable episode

To begin with, the description of the plot as given on the heading of the entry incorrectly calls Ben Sandford "John" whereas John is one of his sons. Not a bad story though the minuses are as follows: it's getting obvious that "killings" and fights are being lessened to suit the political correctness people, and also far too much use is being made of Daisy, who is, as far as I'm concerned, a minor character and who in reality could be dispensed with in my opinion. At this rate she'll have as many lines and actions as the main two, and it's not why we're watching. Similarly, the plot is also far too much written to include Mike's activities, which I suspect are of little interest to most viewers. A little humour between our two heroes is OK but the "cute" level is becoming too much with the boy and the old lady.

Up on the roof

Dan Duryea is always a must see for me as he guest stars in this Laramie story. He plays the patriarch of a mountain man family of trappers who aren't quite civilized. But they have a score to settle with a man the law only convicted of manslaughter who is going off to prison with a stop at the Sherman station.

The Duryea clan runs into a piece of luck when they find John Smith and Robert Fuller on the barn roof painting and without guns. Just a matter of holding them hostage till the arrival.

The surviving Duryea sons are Alex Cord and Jason Evers. Cord is an innocent, but Evers just ain't housebroken for civilization and has a taste for killing. One gets a feeling their brother was no great specimen either as is John Cliff who killed him.

The plot of this episode is taken a lot from the Frank Sinatra movie Suddenly. Think about how that plot was foiled.
