The Crackpot on The Roof.

Gavin Hinchcliffe, an old friend from School, is seen skiing on top of a van, expecting an ice age, Gavin is ready for anything.

I really did enjoy this one, it's barking, it's funny, it features one wonderful guest, and introduces a new, funny regular. Lots of fun in this one, I loved the scene where a relaxed Howard and Marina look up and see Gavin.

When you think of senior greats, you instantly think of Bernard Cribbins, he's a wonderful actor, he adds something terrific here, he's very funny, and has so much presence, watch his timing. What a shame he only appeared in just the one episode, he'd have been a great regular.

Great to see the arrival of Librarian Miss Davenport, I adore Tewson, a real comedy pedigree, the likes of Clarence, and Keeping up Appearances, a role here was always on the cards.

You are reminded by how glorious the area they film in is, the skies are bright blue, the fields are lush green, it does look glorious.

One of the funniest for some time, 8/10.

In Which Gavin Hinchcliffe Loses the Gulf Stream
Prismark1012 September 2020
Billy talks about an old school friend called Gavin Hinchcliffe. They use to throw him at the girls in school.

Who do they see zooming past on top of a car? Gavin Hinchcliffe, learning to ski in case of global warming. Although it is a puzzle why he would want to be standing on top of a moving car.

Bernard Cribbins makes an overdue appearance as Gavin Hinchcliffe in Last of the Summer Wine. Josephine Tewson makes her first appearance as Miss Davenport, the frustrated librarian who has to put up with false promises by Gavin Hinchcliffe.

When Miss Davenport gets drunk, it is Clegg who has to drive the car. Unfortunately both Gavin and Tom meet with accidents.

Incidentally the two policeman are seen out of their panda car and in their office. It is the most unconvincing police office.
