- Hotel Worker: Fifty cents! I've been working hotels for 40 years, and I ain't seen a two-bit tip since those Kennedys been in office. You see what I'm getting' at? Then this duke asks me about getting a girl, and I tell him, 'A big tipper like you don't need no girl!'
- Jasmine: You should have sent your partner. I don't usually do discipline, but I would love to teach him some manners.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: [on Jasmine being bailed out quickly] Look at that. In and out.
- Detective Mike Logan: Just like work.
- Laura Winthrop: I'm only as fast as the man I'm with, you look like you'd be under a minute.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: What do you think?
- Detective Mike Logan: Of a hooker who's got a lawyer looks like he spends more on clothes than I make in a year? I think whoever's paying his bill ought to adopt me.
- Detective Mike Logan: Come on, Max, a lot of vics have kids.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: Yeah, but until you have one of your own, you won't understand.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: He gonna make it?
- Doctor: Nurse's pool says no.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: How much is in it?
- Doctor: Thirty bucks.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: If they were sure, there'd be at least a hundred.
- Doctor: He's got a chance.
- Detective Mike Logan: You Cookie Molina?
- Cookie Molina: Who wants to know?
- Detective Mike Logan: Hey, I thought Cookie was a girl's name.
- Doctor: Whoever hit him in the head wasn't trying to kill him.
- Det. Sgt. Maxwell "Max" Greevey: [dryly] I'm sure his family will be relieved to hear that.
- Laura Winthrop: How about involuntary manslaughter? I'd be out in 5 years, right?
- Ben Stone: 2 and a half with good behavior.
- Laura Winthrop: I'm always on my best behavior.
- Doctor: There is one thing...
- Detective Mike Logan: What?
- Doctor: [about the victim] His underpants... they were on backwards.
- [Laura Winthrop's arraignment]
- Court Judge Harper: How does the defendant plead?
- Laura Winthrop: Not guilty, Your Honor.
- Court Judge Harper: [to Auclair] I assume you are requesting bail?
- Roger Auclair: We are, Your Honor.
- Ben Stone: Prosecution does not consider Miss Winthrop a flight risk, Your Honor. However, the 35-woman prostitution ring which the defendant ran is one of the largest and most lucrative of its kind uncovered in recent years.
- Streetwalker: [yelling across the courtroom to her pimp, Andrew] Listen up, Andrew, and get some pointers!
- [Andrew gives her a cold stare as the courtroom gallery laughs. Judge Harper bangs his gavel for order]
- Court Judge Harper: [to Stone] I gather this is alleged to be an efficiently run business?
- Ben Stone: Thoroughly computerized, with a client list that includes doctors, diplomats, CEOs of some of the city's largest corporations...
- Court Judge Harper: [cuts Stone off] Get to the point, Mr. Stone. Despite the impressive list of assets, promoting prostitution is still merely a Class D felony.
- Ben Stone: This office requests bail commensurate with the serious impact of the crime on the moral fiber of this community.
- Streetwalker: [to Andrew] Ya hear that, Andrew? Fiber! I told you we ALL need fiber!
- [Andrew glares and points a small wooden club at her threateningly as the gallery laughs again. Judge Harper bangs his gavel for order once more]
- Mayor's Assistant: Maybe... there should be a task force, which as you know, since crack has become much more visible, much more aggressive, a major task force- major effort. what do you think, Ben? Are you interested?
- Ben Stone: I think we ought to put stocks, two to a block, guarded and heated all the way up and down Broadway. Anyone convicted of possession of crack has to sit in those stocks from sunup till sundown, with a dunce cap and clown nose... I think we'd clear up the problem in about six months, what do you think?
- Mayor's Assistant: If that's the way you want to play it, Ben. Gentlemen.
