Originally aired the same date as the previous episode, this episode picks up immediately where Couples (2003) leaves off: Detective Green receives a call about a jumper as the final scene fades out; this episode opens with Green and Briscoe arriving at the scene, wearing the same clothes as in the previous episode and saying they were responding to a call about a jumper.
In the previous episode, Couples (2003) which aired on the same day and immediately precedes the action of this episode, Detective Green is punched in the stomach by a witness who mistakes him for a mugger. He begins this episode holding on to his stomach, presumably still sore from the punch.
This episode appears to be based on the 2002 child sex abuse allegations against singer/songwriter Michael Jackson, right down to a baby being held out of an upstairs window and the defendants "playroom". The allegations against Mr. Jackson surfaced after an incident where he held his infant son over the edge of a balcony, this was caught on video and a short time later he did an interview in a documentary film where he apologized for the incident. It was during the filming of this documentary that Mr. Jackson was filmed holding hands and having a conversation with a young boy about sleeping arrangements. This caused the police to begin an investigation during which Mr. Jackson's "play room" was discovered at his mansion "Neverland Ranch". The play room included lots of games and a king sized bed. Several children came forward claiming to have been abused by Mr. Jackson in that room, after which, he was arrested and charged with several counts of sexual abuse but was ultimately found not guilty of all charges by a California jury.
As is common in the Law & Order universe, Larry Miller has portrayed more than one character. In this episode, he plays himself. Previously, he played Michael Dobson in Coma (1994) and Encore (1996).
