After the body of the suspect's mother is exhumed, the medical examiner states that she was able to find the evidence that the mother was injected with an air embolism because NY State requires that a deceased person be embalmed. NY State does not require the deceased to be embalmed.
The defendant in this case is being charged with three counts of rape in the first degree and three counts of murder in the first degree, making this a capital case and considering the fact that the victims were brutally raped and murdered for profit it is extremely likely the District Attorney would be seeking the death penalty. As such a judge would never grant bail to someone potentially facing the death penalty, especially a defendant with substantial amounts of wealth, this person is the definition of a flight risk and someone with nothing left to loose.
