It's ironic that "Life With Lucy" aired this episode first, the story of a teddy bear sold by accident to the future Gloria Petrillo #2, Dena Dietruch, of "Golden Girls". Jenny Lewis, who plays the granddaughter here, would be the mean teddy bear extortionist a year later on a similar episode of "Golden Girl", obviously much more well known than this one. Dietrich is trouble for Lucy from the start, but when Lucy accidentally vacuums up her skirt at a yard sale the stage is set for revenge.
Lucy is at her most youthful looking here in this episode, appearing to be a good twenty years younger than her 70-something years. This is another case of the Whiting being a lot better than some of the other episodes, in fact better than most of them. Gale Gordon is also very funny as he tells the court about all these other incidents that occurred prior to this episode, ironically starting from the first episode on up. This is another example of what a missed opportunity the show was, having episodes that were very much in tune with the car while a good majority of them were quite dated. Had other episodes had the quality of this one, the show definitely would have lasted longer.
