The town of Painted Post has a serious problem. Their is a range war brewing between the ranchers and the farmers. On top of that, Sheriff Park and Deputy Tarbuck are both outlaws from Texas who want to keep the trouble going. Tarbuck hires professional killer Reno Lawrence to come to Painted Post and kill Jim Sage, a leading farmer. But, Tarbuck actually plans to kill Lawrence and frame Sage for the crime. The Ranger and Tonto are hot on the trail of Lawrence. When Tarbuck shoots Lawrence in the back on sage's farm, it looks like his plan will succeed. Some of the ranchers want to lynch Sage. But the Ranger and Tonto are on hand. Lawrence isn't dead yet and has told the Ranger he thinks Tarbuck shot him. But will the ranchers listen to reason? There's not much chance of that. The great character actor Jack Elam plays Lawrence. Familiar faces Robert Bray and Bob Bice are on hand also. A good entertaining episode with a plot that was used in dozens of western TV shows and movies: ranchers vs. farmers.
