Wrong main character left the show
Wonderful Lady Jane (Phyllis Logan) hit the road in the previous episode. Lovejoy is house-sitting Felsham Manor, showing it to possible buyers and shifting some of his antiques while he's there.

At the door knocks Camilla, a shifty number who strikes a deal to have Lovejoy shift some of her reproductions. And them comes along Caroline Langrishe as Charlotte Cavendish, auctioneer.

Since we can't have a Harlequin Romance series without any s3xual tension, Lovejoy and Cavendish have to do some sparring. I mean, if Lovejoy's not chasing birds or antiques, they writers tend to resort to giving too much screen time to Tinker and Dim. Dudley Sutton's dulcet tones I can handle. But Chris Jury tends to deliver his lines by shouting, which wore out my last nerve a couple of series ago. And then the yelling becomes epidemic. Everyone starts yelling their lines: Lovejoy, the Ol' Bill, the senile old lady's crooked son.

Anyway, you can tell right away that Langrishe is gonna be a big hit on the show. Now if the rest of them could only stop yelling at one anothe and stick to the script we'd be getting somewhere.

Also, are those hair extensions or was Ian McShane simply letting his hair grow from Series 1 to now without ever getting a haircut? Because that is one awesome mullett.
