Christmas, Pernelli and Nurse Kellye Nakahara
safenoe20 February 2020
I only learned a few moments ago about the sad loss of Kellye Nakahara:( Kellye featured in this episode although strangely Klinger referred to her as Nurse Nakahara instead of Nurse Yamato. Kind of like when Luke Skywalker supposedly called out Carrie instead of Leia I guess. In this episode, Val Bisoglio plays Sgt. Pernelli, who gets top billing in the supporting cast. But he appeared in only three episodes, whereas Nurse Kellye was a keeper and a loveable character for sure.

Sgt. Pernelli rules!
mszouave24 July 2021
This episode is one of the few that highlights the backbreaking work the Enlisted ranks have to do every day at the 4077. Especially funny is Sgt Pernelli and Winchester in the kitchen. But it also shows how much work goes into feeding several hundred people- that is usually ungrateful and complaining about the food. It was telling at the end when BJ and Hawkeye were complaining about the pancakes, Winchester said " they weren't that bad".

Sgt. Pernelli is one of the funniest seldom seen characters in the show. It's shame he wasn't in more.

Boxing Day Comes But Once a Year
Hitchcoc27 April 2015
A British tradition in the military is for officers to change places with enlisted personnel. Potter decides that this would be good for morale. Of course, there is conflict. The major transgressor is the inimitable Charles Emerson Winchester who has traded places with the camp cook, a humorless dispenser of grease. He whines and whines about everything. Potter trades places with Klinger who now must make major decisions. Hawkeye and B.J. become orderlies and mop floors and change bedpans It is freezing outside and there is general upset. A patient who was thought to be stable begins to go sour and the doctors must swing into action. Not as good as it could have been with some better writing.
