- Margaret's good friend Captain Helen Whitfield (Gail Strickland) visits the 4077th (she is on a transfer to the 4077th for 2 months) and it seems like old times again (They play gin, relive the olden times and Whitfield is due back in the US in 14 days time), but what the Major doesn't know is that Whitfield is still a raging closet-alcoholic; Helen struggles to get up in the morning and saunters to the OR. Klinger finds Helen in the supply tent, alone with a bottle of booze (earlier that day Klinger had also noticed Helen taking the wrong type blood from the freezer). Klinger tells Potter, who discusses the matter with Margaret. Houlihan is livid that Potter would accuse Helen, when BJ and Hawkeye are drunk regularly and make a fool of themselves. But Potter counters that Helen was drunk in the supply room, alone. This means she was trying to hide something. Margaret confronts Helen (who insists that she does not have a drinking problem and these are isolated incidents) and bans her from the OR (she is assigned to the lab) and tells her that if she slips once more, this will go on her record.
Margaret keeps Helen dry for 2 days and pretty soon she gets withdrawal symptoms and they are BAD (she gets delusional in the mess tent). She enters an AA program.
Meanwhile, Hawkeye pulls one prank that goes too far when he drops Charles' pants in O.R. Nobody in the OR appreciates it, neither the nurses nor Potter. The whole camp boos Hawkeye and applauds Winchester. Even father Mulcahy refuses to provide any relief to Hawkeye for his despicable actions. Mulcahy calls him a goon and a block headed bozo. Hawkeye is pissed since BJ was his partner in crime and yet BJ is blame free. BJ refuses to admit his part in the prank. So, now Hawkeye wants Winchester to take revenge on him. So, Hawkeye tells BJ that he will plan a prank on himself and make it look like Winchester did it. BJ and Hawkeye invite Winchester to drink at the officer's club and the plan is that Hawkeye will sit on a chair with glue on it, making it look like Winchester's revenge. But, the chairs are switched and Winchester ends up being glued. Even BJ blames Hawkeye now. Winchester has to cut his pants to get rid of the chair. Hawkeye is booed again. Later Hawkeye asks Klinger to help him with a prank on himself, to which Klinger reveals that BJ sabotaged the prank in the officer's club and made Hawkeye look bad again in front of everyone. BJ switched the chair in the club and he convinced Winchester to go commando in the OR (knowing that Hawkeye was planning to pull down his pants)
So, Hawkeye and Winchester put BJ's cot in the nurses tent and remove his clothes and sew his blanket to the cot. When he wakes, he vows not to leave the cot, but the PA announces wounded incoming and BJ grabs a pillow to leave, only to see the whole camp waiting outside and applauding. Soon, Hawkeye and Winchester post 8*10 of the pics on the bulletin board
