Captain Pierce and Colonel Potter head off to the front to help with wounded. Frank has been teasing the Colonel about his age. Frank is able to avoid going to help. Potter and Pierce do a bang up job in the middle of snipers and artillery shells. On the way back they get hammered and end up in a ditch. The jeeps is destroyed. Hawkeye is forced to use a gun which disgusts him. Anway, this is one of those episodes that is entirely predictable. There is a subplot where Klinger claims to be a gypsy, stolen by Lebanese parents when he was just child. Of course, it never works and he is forced to look for his next con.

Mako guest stars as a surgeon in a tough area. Hawkeye has to fire a gun, and understandably he's terrified.
Frank needles Potter because of his age, but still Potter maintains his dignity big time. This is Frank's final season, before M*A*S*H moves to the Hawkeye/BJ/Potter/Winchester quartet.
