The Influence of Strangers
Hitchcoc6 May 2015
This is a fun episode as three U.N. doctors come through the MASH to observe. One is a handsome Swedish man who immediately catches the eye of Major Houlihan. They seem to have some wonderful chemistry but there is a secret that he fear sharing that upsets the possibilities. This is tenderly done. The second is a man from India who introduces yoga into the camp. Potter and Klinger begin to revel in the effects by standing on their heads. The third, and most entertaining, is a boorish snob who knows art and music and wine and is more pretentious than Charles. The two of them hit it off at first but the former begins to outsnob Charles. The final scene between these two is quite priceless.

Houlihan and Holahan

Warning: Spoilers
Swedish UN delegate Per Johannsen (played by real-life attorney Dennis Holahan) develops a romantic interest with Margaret (played by real- life actress Loretta Swit). Coincidentally, Dennis and Loretta married each other soon after this episode, so fascinating about the surnames being so similar.

This is a somber episode in some respects and you can sense the M*A*S*H series winding down and becoming reflective.
