"Driving" Potter Crazy; BJ Sad Again
Hitchcoc26 April 2015
There are two plots. Potter got a speeding ticket and is required to take a remedial driving course. He has to be tutored by Rizzo which is a real comedown. Rizzo tries everything to get Potter to just 86 the whole thing, but he doesn't feel this is honorable. The second plot has to do with BJ getting a letter from his wife. She is taking a job as a cocktail waitress and suddenly he gets all gung ho, wallowing in self pity. He ruins a poker game an then tries to highball a bunch of young soldiers who are playing pinball. He is nasty and mean spirited to the nth degree. Finally, it's up to Margaret to step in. Of course, BJ has been down this road before, feeling so persecuted.

Mediocre Madness

Warning: Spoilers
Any show that lasts as long as M*A*S*H is bound to show signs of erosion. This 10th season installment, sans the OR, finds Colonel Potter having to take a driving class from none other than Rizzo. In the other main story point, B.J. receives another letter from Peg. This time, his beloved wife informs him she's taken a job to help pay off their second mortgage. Both plots are lukewarm at best. Potter's riding of Rizzo is amusing, and as usual G.W. Bailey delivers. The biggest issue with this episode regards B.J., whose self pity is insufferable. Mike Farrell is a terrific actor, but at times he overacted Hunnicutt. I'm not sure why he felt the need to inject his own misery on the others in the camp, as if his suffering was far greater than anyone else's. Margaret, in one of her most underrated scenes, straightens B.J. out. His rage was justifiable and understandable when Erin mistook Radar for her dad. This was full on wallowing and it doesn't play well.

Bad News BJ

Warning: Spoilers
BJ gets all grizzled when he learns his wife takes up a job as a busgirl at a diner, and he's not at all thrilled. He goes on a gambling spree to help pay off the second mortgage, much to the consternation of all around. Rizzo plays a prominent part in this episode.

So tired of these episodes with "Boo-hoo" Honeycutt, and his roller coaster moods. Suck it up Buttercup, you're not the only homesick G. I. Get a three day pass to Tokyo and get moon howling drunk, then come back to hell ready to Shut the **** up.
