If they portrayed people living out there as armed and carrying like in the real world, we wouldn't have an episode ...

MacGyver is trying to get to a fishing spot when he gets lost. Trying to ask for directions, he ends up in a little airport. There he finds himself in lot of trouble...

"Last Stand" is an awesome episode in this first season of MacGyver, with cool moments, great imagination in MacGyver's inventions, and lots of action. And even a very young Jackie Earle Haley as one of the bad guys.

The story is simple enough, with some people held hostage in a little bar. But the non-stop action, and the imagination put in the different situations MacGyver has to face is great. The bad guys of the week more than do their job, and even if it has more than a couple of silly moments, where the characters take the well-of-course-this-door-is- moving-because-my-friend-is-behind-it-let's-call-his-name-so-he- knows-I'm-coming route, the general quality more than makes for it.

MacGyver works for a living at very odd jobs. I like episodes of shows where workers at their professions come upon trouble in their jobs. I don't like it when they blunder into trouble accidentally. And in this episode MacGyver happens up on a hostage situation. Don't we all from time to time? I don't.

Luckily for the hostages MacGyver likes to play it by ear, trusting the script writers to give him just what he needs. They don't fail him this time.

It's no spoiler to say MacGyver lives to fight another day. His series lasted seven years and this is the first season. But I won't reveal how.
