Mama tries to sell Vint as one of the boys!
Sylviastel4 September 2008
For once, Vint has invited three guys to spend a poker night at the Harper house while his mother, Iola, and wife Naomi go to the theater to see Medea, the Greek tragedy about a woman killing her two sons for revenge. When Mama learns the actress is the usual actress who plays the role all the time, she bows out and one of the players doesn't show up. Rather than forfeit the poker game, Vint asks Mama to sit in and play with the guys. There, she begins talking about Vint as the ultimate Mama's boy. Then he begs her to stop talking about him like a wimp and talking about him like a man, Mama does what he wants but nothing ever really goes according to plan.

Laid an egg until a touching ending.

Made no sense a financially struggling dimwitted Vinton (Ken Berry) still living at home would get enthusiastic approved from his family to join a poker group. Iola (Beverly Archer) and Naomi (Dorothy Lyman) are ushered off to a local theater group production. The description of rank amateurs performing a Greek tragedy is one of the few funny scenes of the episode. The two guest actor poker players "No Coat" George (Ray Young), and Walt Billings (Tommy Bush) were poorly cast and extremely bland. Ironically I worked with an oddball guy who only wore short sleeve shirts (no coat or jacket) even in harsh winter days because he had a phobia about cloth on his arms. Every thing about the poker game stalled. Thelma was really annoying dominating the screen time and lines. Cute ending raised the rating slightly.
