- George Roper (Brian Murphy) insists that his tenants have to do up the flat once every few years for free. Although Mildred (Yootha Joyce) backs them up, they have to do it.
Robin (Richard O'Sullivan) ends up at the pub, dragging Chrissy (Paula Wilcox) and Jo (Sally Thomsett) with him. There, Mick (Paul Angelis) is saying aloud stupid things, and when Mick sees the girls he immediately makes a pass at Chrissy, interrumpting the three friends' conversation. Chrissy is a bit rude to him, because it's clear she doesn't find him likable in any way. Robin tries to shut Mick up, but when he realises Mick looks big and strong, he backs down.
The Roper's daily newspaper gets delivered to their tenants's flat by mistake. Robin uses it for cleaning some split paint, so when George goes up to claim the paper and he is given it back, it is of no use to him, because it has been torn to pieces and damaged with yellow paint.
Later, at the pub, the Ropers will have an incident with Mick, when he spills George's glass of ale , and the old man grunts as it is usual in him. Mick applauds his courage, and buys George a new one.
The next day, Robin feels down because Mick made him look like a coward in front of his friends. He decides to get his own back that evening, saying that he's been learning judo. He just makes himself look stupid.
