A MAN CALLED SHENANDOAH - Obion 1866

This 1965 episode is from the one season run of the western series, A MAN CALLED SHENANDOAH. Robert Horton stars a man suffering from a loss of memory after getting a head wound in a gun battle. He searches the west looks for clues to his identity.

In this episode, Horton is trailing Claude Akins. Akins had bumped into Horton a train station. Akins turns several shades of grey, then, bolts from the station when he sees Horton. Horton figures Akins must know who he is and gives chase.

Akins leads Horton on a wild chase for several days over hills and through thick brush. When he is unable to shake Horton from his trail, he sets up an ambush. Horton falls for the trap and is quickly rendered senseless.

When Horton recovers, Akins has him trussed up like a Christmas turkey. "Why can't you just leave me alone!" Akins says to Horton. Horton explains to Akins his current loss of memory and he just wanted some info on his identity.

Akins cuts his bonds and explains how they meet 4 years before in 1866. Akins had been a small town lawman. Horton and another man had rode into town and stopped for a drink. Horton's friend was then involved in a gun battle with the town fast gun, and was killed. Akins, rather than face the gunman himself, had grabbed his stuff and fled town leaving Horton to face the gunman.

When Akins had bumped into Horton he figured Horton was after him for some revenge. Akins cannot help him with his name or what business he was in. Though he adds, "You must be handy with a pistol to have beaten the gunman." No luck again for Horton as he continues his search for his identity. (b/w)
