- [two government agents are watching spies who, in turn, are luring Maynard and Dobie into their plot]
- T.F. Elliott: The nut with the beard - did you get a good look at him?
- A.F. Bottomly: Got him.
- T.F. Elliott: Did you get a good look at the other one?
- A.F. Bottomly: Got him.
- T.F. Elliott: You know what to do?
- A.F. Bottomly: Get him.
- A.F. Bottomly: [a government agent is on the trail of a female spy] Which one of you picked up that girl in the lobby?
- Dobie Gillis: [pointing to Maynard] He's responsible.
- Maynard G. Krebs: Me? Oh come now.
- Dobie Gillis: Please, sir, don't be too hard on him. He didn't know she was your girlfriend, and besides, he can't help it if he's fascinating to women.
- Maynard G. Krebs: Me? Oh come now.
- A.F. Bottomly: [the agent pushes Dobie out of the doorway, and enters the room] At ease, both of ya. She's not my girlfriend.
- Dobie Gillis: Wshew, I'm glad.
- A.F. Bottomly: She's a dangerous enemy spy who would kill a man as soon as look at him.
- Maynard G. Krebs: Wshew, I'm leavin'.
- A.F. Bottomly: Not so fast. I'm with the United States Government.
- Maynard G. Krebs: Oh help, Dobe, I'm gonna be drafted again.
- A.F. Bottomly: The government isn't that desperate.
