Steve's last episode!
Sylviastel14 June 2009
David Garrison had spent three and half seasons on this pioneer sitcom which launched the Fox network. He had decided that he had missed New York City and the theatrical life so this was his official last episode. By then, Steve had decided that he wanted to become a park ranger at Yosemite. In the meantime, Al gets hit by the tax man. He finds an advertisement in the newspaper where a couple would be willing to pay a lot of money for actual human hair. The problem is that it's Peggy's and she would rather see her husband go to prison than lose some of her hair. Actually, she's the reason that there in the mess in the first place. It's a funny episode. Sadly, I thought Steve's departure would wreck the show but I was wrong. The show would be reborn.

Hair today, gone tomorrow?

Al is expecting a tax rebate but instead he gets hit with an audit and, because of Peggy's 'creative' book-keeping, owes $5000 that he doesn't have. Faced with a prison sentence if he cannot pay, he cooks up a scheme to sell Peggy's hair to a balding woman, but Peggy would rather see her husband do time than give up her flowing red locks.

This is apparently the final episode for David Garrison as Steve Rhoades, which is a shame because he is one of my favourite characters. Still, as long as they keep putting Christina Applegate in clothes like that off-the-shoulder purple number, I guess I'll manage. All told, A Taxing Matter is a reasonable episode with an amusing payoff that sees Buck the dog going the extra mile to provide laughs.
