The Gypsy Visits!
Sylviastel28 May 2009
When the Rhoades throw a party for their banking colleagues at the house, Kelly and Bud have stolen gasoline from their prized cars. Marcy comes over to collect some food and Steve follows her. Also they have hired a psychic fortune-teller with tarot cards to tell their fortunes at the party, Madame Zelda played by the wonderful Carmen Zapata. She reads fortunes for Al, Steve, and Peggy with good results. For Marcy, she has some bad results to tell her. When Marcy finds out that she's going to fly to New York City with her boss for speaking engagement, she fears that her life will end so she takes the Bundys and Steve as insurance. They fly first class to New York City and the Bundys make use of the first class seats.

A decent but important episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Funny episode, kinda the turning point for the series. I believe marcy's curse was the failing of her marriage rather her hitting her boss. Steve also shows less love for her starting with this episode foreshadowing his exit. Some of the jokes are good as normal Katey was particularly good in this episode due to the wallet scene and the great chemistry between Ed O'Neill and her during the plane scene is fantastic. The banter between the gypsy And Al is fantastic. Gypsy:i see feet(looking at tarot cards) Al: u can see that, gypsy: no i smell ur feet Al: well i smell cheap scotch on ur breath. Very funny.

I predict you'll not laugh much.

A gypsy fortune teller correctly predicts good luck for Al, Peggy and Steve, but Marcy isn't happy with her own prediction of impending disaster. When she has to get on a plane to New York for an important business meeting, Marcy insists that her husband and her neighbours go with her.

It's not often that I say this, but this episode of Married With Children didn't make me laugh, not even once. I really thought that this season had perfected the formula for hilarity, especially since the previous episode, Her Cups Runneth Over, was so good, but The Gypsy Cried is the weakest so far. I usually mention my favourite moments in my reviews, but I'm at a loss this time. Oh well, onto Episode 9...
