The pathetic Wes (Jerry Van Dyke) returns and takes a job in the newsroom - between doctoring scripts for Chuckles the Clown. Wes tries to reignite his romance with Mary but she is less interested in him. As usual, Mary tries to avoid confronting the issue leading to awkwardness. When Lou tries Wes's idea for the news to be presented from the newsroom itself Wes arrives drunk as the show is about to start...
The episode was OK. The needy Wes is annoying but the regulars keep things moving. I thought Ted's news report was pretty funny.
Chuckles the Clown, played by the third actor in the role, appears in a lengthy dialogue scene.
