"Does Ted like cake and ice cream?"
Rrrobert30 July 2019
Well-done funny episode.

Ted is a guest on the Chuckles the Clown show. Chuckles' daughter Betty Bowerchuck (Arlene Golonka) who works on the show is starstruck by Ted. They start a romance but she is perturbed by Ted's tight-fisted and selfish ways.

Ted's new moustache forms the subplot.

The scene where Ted 'accidentally' arrives early for dinner at Mary's and they have a heart-to-heart is really well done.

Betty is a bubbly and pretty blonde with a heart of gold and brings out Ted's tender side. The show later brought in the Betty-like Georgette and pursued this story thread on an on-going basis. Betty was never mentioned again though Chuckles frequently was.

Pie in the Face Funny

Ted Baxter begins a relationship with Betty, the daughter of Chuckles, the Clown (Arlene Golonka). They think it is a secret. Ted, of course, is the complete ass. He is cheap and clueless. Mary keeps getting her roses stolen. Lou is having trouble because when Ted is not around, there is no way to blow off steam. Ted is also growing a mustache which is becoming pretty controversial. They are even doing a study of it. Mary, naturally becomes the arbitrator. Betty is confused by the way she is treated. Ted tells her there is clause in the contract that says two people from the station cannot fall in love. This causes him to hide her when they go out. His real reason for concern is that he is afraid it will spoil his image if he has a clown for a father in law. There are many funny moments along the way.
