Early weirdness - First Season

Warning: Spoilers
In these early episodes, he is raising chickens and selling old trucks. The backstory of the later episodes where his father is a mechanic and he is less of a country boy was the resulting evolution in the series. Then again, he has one daughter at the beginning of the series, she disappears and then it is a different daughter altogether that shows up later in the series (and then leaves).

The Cop

After his turn as Victor Worheide in the crime mini series Fatal Vision.

Andy Griffith was given a series of a tough crafty defence lawyer, Ben Matlock. It was not too far from the Perry Mason template

Matlock has a folksy charm, he is expensive and he has a crack investigative team.

In this episode Héctor Elizondo plays Joe Peters a tough cop who is after a mob boss. However Peters is robbed and his badge and gun is stolen. It is all a plan to frame him for murder.

Matlock takes his case although reluctantly, in his past Peters has never given the accused a fair shake.

Peters thinks that other cops are on the payroll of the mob. Matlock needs to use all his cunning and chicanery to find the truth.

A pretty good episode mainly because Elizondo is so committed. I am rather concerned that the local police department were so corrupt. What happened to all the dirty cops after the episode?
