He is played by James Olson (at that time appearing in many crime shows as a villain. He has hair transplants in his balding head which is the source of some funny quips. Walter arrives with a cute young blonde Kathy (Bernadette Peters). Maude and Walter argue and alcoholic Walter starts drinking again. He and Arthur go back to his pad, Arthur had put on one of Kathy's shoes as a joke. He passes out in the bed next to Walter. Maude comes in thinking Walter is in bed with Kathy, setting up the next episode.
