Sgt. F.J. Cameron watches McCloud on a firing range, impressed by his marksmanship, but puzzled when McCloud stops firing after only five rounds. McCloud explains to her that he always leaves the first chamber empty (with the hammer on it) to prevent the hair-trigger weapon from accidentally discharging as he draws it. This was a common practice with Colt .45 revolvers in the Old West, but McCloud never does it again (often firing more than six shots in a gunfight).
The original "McCloud" episodes "The Concrete Corral" (#1.3) and "Walk in the Dark" (#1.5) were re-edited together to become "Murder Arena" which is the episode currently syndicated under that title on U.S. reruns of the series.
Susan Saint James (who plays Officer Keach) would the following year star in McMillan and Wife, which would team with McCloud as part of the NBC Mystery Movie.
