- Nick and Tess approach the altar at last, but there's family heartache to endure before any glimpse of a gold ring.
- One day to go to the wedding of the millennium at Drovers Run. The wedding preparations are a beautiful thing. But the imminent arrival of Nick's mother, Liz, strikes a discordant note. Nick is happy to see his mother and Tess is happy to play along, but for all her protestations of joy, Liz still has a few bombshells to deliver along with the giftwrapped knives. There are other intruders as well. A fire ant infestation threatens to derail the wedding completely. Liz comes with lots of baggage. She's been talking to Nick, but has barely spoken to Alex since the truth of his parentage came out. Her relationship with Tess has never been happy, and she has come between Nick and Tess more than once. So many are tense, (though Tess is trying to be relaxed about it) waiting to discover if Liz is here as doting mum, or is here with a plan. Things are tense at Killarney too. Sandra feels deeply threatened by Liz's appearance on the scene and her instant apparent rapport with Harry. Tess' friend Kirsty arrives to help with the wedding catering, and Meg is also back in town, ready for the celebrations. All is going smoothly, until Liz draws Tess aside and plays her hand at last. She can offer Tess her own restaurant in the city, so she can begin her career anew. Tess gets the idea - give up Nick and she'll get the money. Liz protests that isn't what she meant at all - Nick will surely follow Tess if they love each other truly. But both know the truth - Nick would never leave the land, even for Tess and a restaurant.
