Warning: Spoilers
The first half take some time to take off. But the second, is filled with satisfying conclusions. Season 3 is the show at its peak, and the most addictive year. Holiday on Ice, was a fine Christmas special, where it looked as if characters were mending fences. And Amanda, especially, was trying to be more reasonable. You also have Kimberly's hilarious freak out, with Marcia Cross doing an avant-garde choreography, to express her character's rage and desperation. But it wouldn't be Melrose Place, without some more backstabbing and an attempted murder. And in this two hours episode, you get two for the price of one. First Jo gets shot, and Amanda is taken on the operating room, under false pretenses. It's a rewarding episode, for punishing all of 3A's evilest bad guys. But a sad one, for having Jo lose custody of her baby, in favor of an healthier environment. And parents who don't live amongst crazy people. Speaking of which, we also get to be introduced to Rikki and her ideal group of friends... And now I look forward to the part where Sidney is « in a box » literally... I'm always saddened writers didn't give a shot at Alison's relationship with Terry. But they just love to see her crash and burn, apparently. As far as the soundtrack is concerned, the episode featured some great tunes from Sinead O'Connor, Sting and The Cranberries. They even used « Zombie » twice, as a way to foreshadow the cult subplot. It's an important turn on the season's insane journey.
