D. W. Moffett is very chilling as the Iceman in this two-parter of Midnight Caller, which is one of my favorite TV dramas for sure. It's a crime that Midnight Caller has never been released on DVD, which really is unjustifiable. Anyway, here Jack is being hunted (or haunted) by the Iceman, who kills people he thinks should be cleaned up and made better because of their departure at the Iceman's hands. I like how Jack goes to the subway to track down the Iceman, so we get to see the San Francisco subway in all its glory.
What made the Iceman kind of nuanced was the fact that he owned two fluffy doggies on a yacht, so there's the human element. We see the doggies at the end of the episode, so hopefully they found a good home.
